Privacy Policy

Account information. When you create an account or sign in — with Google, Apple, or an email address and password — we receive and store your email address, display name, profile photo (if provided by the sign-in provider), and a provider identifier. Passwords are handled by our secure authentication provider; we never see or store your password.

Content you provide. Questions and prompts you submit to the AI chat and research features, your saved chat history, bookmarks, watchlist entries, plan waitlist requests, and messages you send us.

Usage and device information.Log data such as IP address, browser or device type, pages viewed, and interactions with the Service. We use your IP address for security and rate limiting, and to derive your approximate location (country / city level) to show relevant defaults such as your nearest weather location and regional news edition. We do not collect precise GPS location unless you explicitly use a “use my location” feature, in which case the coordinates are used on your device to pick a city and are not stored by us.

Cookies and local storage. We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies — a session cookie that keeps you signed in and a cookie that remembers your language/region choice — and browser local storage for interface preferences (such as theme, font size, and selected AI model). Separately, our analytics tooling (see Section 4) sets identifiers to measure usage; these arenot strictly necessary and are governed by the consent rules below.

Analytics consent and how to opt out. If you visit from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, analytics does not load at all until you accept it: we show a short prompt on your first visit, nothing is collected while it is showing, and declining leaves analytics switched off. Elsewhere, analytics is on by default. In every region you can turn it off — or back on — at any time from Settings → Usage analytics in the side menu. Your choice is stored in a cookie named brief24-analytics-consent on this browser for 180 days, so clearing your cookies resets it. Turning analytics off stops collection immediately.

Payment information. If and when paid subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or a payment processor, your payment details are collected and processed by that platform or processor — we do not receive or store full payment card numbers.

• to provide and operate the Service — including signing you in, syncing your bookmarks, watchlist, and chat history across devices, and showing region-appropriate content;
• to generate AI responses to your questions (see Section 3);
• to enforce usage allowances, prevent abuse and fraud, rate-limit traffic, and secure the Service;
• to send transactional emails — such as email verification, password reset, welcome, and subscription-related messages (we do not send marketing email without your consent);
• to understand how the Service is used and to improve it (analytics, debugging, aggregate statistics); and
• to comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.

Where the laws of your jurisdiction require a legal basis for processing (such as the GDPR), we rely on: performance of our contract with you (providing the Service), legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, improving the Service), consent (where applicable), and compliance with legal obligations.

When you use the AI chat, research, or briefing features, your question, relevant context (such as news excerpts and, for signed-in users, items like your watchlist where a feature requires them), and limited technical metadata are transmitted to third-party AI-model providers — which may include Google, Anthropic, xAI, Meta, Mistral, and OpenAI — solely to generate the response. These providers process the data on our behalf under their business / API terms.

Your chat history is stored in your account so you can revisit it, and you can delete individual chats at any time. Please do not include sensitive personal information (about yourself or others) in your prompts.

We share information only with service providers that process it on our behalf to run the Service, under contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations. These providers fall into the following categories:

• cloud hosting and infrastructure;
• authentication and account security;
• AI-model providers listed in Section 3 — generating AI responses;
• content delivery and network security;
• transactional email delivery; and
• product analytics (usage measurement).

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising purposes. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights, safety, or property of Brief24 or others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (in which case this Policy will continue to apply to your information).

The Service displays content from, and links to, third-party news publishers. Images in news articles are loaded directly from the publishers’ servers, which means those publishers (and their content-delivery networks) may receive your IP address and standard request headers when the images load. When you follow a link to a publisher’s site, that site’s own privacy policy applies.

We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. Chat history, bookmarks, and watchlist entries are kept until you delete them or your account. Server logs and security data are kept for limited periods appropriate to their purpose. Aggregated or de-identified data that cannot reasonably identify you may be retained without restriction.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. You can exercise many of these directly in the app: edit your profile, delete individual chats, and remove bookmarks and watchlist items.

Account deletion. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting us through our contact page, using the email address associated with your account. We will delete or de-identify your data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain records to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. Users in Israel have the rights provided by the Israeli Protection of Privacy Law.

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information — including encryption in transit, hashed session tokens, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security; please use a strong, unique password and keep it confidential.

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

We are based in Israel and use service providers in the United States, the European Union, and other countries, so your information may be processed outside your country of residence. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers — including transfers to jurisdictions recognized as providing adequate protection and providers’ standard contractual data-protection commitments.

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
