Yankees place third baseman Ryan McMahon on 10-day injured list with sprained left thumb

Ryan McMahon was placed on the 10-day injured list with a Grade 2 left thumb sprain Friday, but the New York Yankees third baseman said he'll just miss the minimum amount of time. McMahon was injured on a play at second base in Wednesday’s 5-3 win at Baltimore. “Just felt like it probably would have been a couple more days where he’s maybe a little bit compromised,” manager Aaron Boone said.
